It is a combined subject of dermatology and pathology that includes the study of cutaneous diseases at a microscopic and molecular level. It also encompasses analyses of the potential causes of skin diseases at a basic level. Examples includes skin biopsy done to examine the skin tissue under the microscope and are subjected to other molecular tests like immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, electron microscopy, flow cytometry, and molecular-pathologic analysis.
