Infectious diseases today are the leading cause of death worldwide, will probably never be completely eradicated. In recent years, the antibiotics or vaccines available to treat infectious diseases have proven to be effective in most cases, yet the growing problem of drug resistance by pathogenic microbes has cornered infectious disease as global public health threat.
